Community-Based Therapy combines the safety of psychotherapy with guided practice in real-life environments. Rather than meeting only in the therapy room, sessions may also take place in cafés, supermarkets, on public transport, in parks, workplaces, universities or other community settings, depending on your therapeutic goals.
Working alongside your psychologist in everyday situations allows you to apply strategies learned in therapy while receiving immediate support, feedback and encouragement. This approach can help build confidence, increase independence and make lasting change feel more achievable.

Our approach
Carefully planned, purposeful and individual
Every Community-Based Therapy session is carefully planned with clear therapeutic goals. Your psychologist will support you throughout the experience, helping you develop practical skills, reflect on challenges and build strategies that you can continue using independently.
Our aim is not simply to help you cope during the session, but to empower you with the confidence and skills to navigate everyday life long after therapy has ended.
Frequently asked questions
What to expect
How do we decide where a session takes place?
The setting is agreed with you in advance and chosen only when it directly supports your therapeutic goals. Community sessions are planned collaboratively and are never introduced without discussion.
Is Community-Based Therapy suitable for everyone?
Not always. Your psychologist will first consider your needs, preferences, safety and clinical goals, and will discuss whether this approach is appropriate for you.
What about privacy and confidentiality?
Privacy is considered carefully when selecting locations and planning activities. Your psychologist will discuss practical boundaries and confidentiality before any session takes place outside the clinic.
Can the first appointment take place in the clinic?
Yes. Initial conversations can take place in the clinic so you can discuss your goals, ask questions and decide together whether community-based work may be helpful.
